Is The Sopranos on Netflix?
No. Not in any of the markets checked, and it has never been on Netflix in the United States at all.
That would be a short article, except for one thing: a large number of pages published in December 2025 say the opposite, and they are still in circulation. If you have read that The Sopranos is coming to Netflix, that report was real at the time and the thing it depended on has since fallen apart.

HBO Max is the home in most markets where that service operates.
Canada is the exception: Crave has the HBO rights there, not HBO Max.
In India it runs through JioHotstar.
No free legal stream was found in any of the markets checked. The cheapest legal route is HBO Max's ad- supported tier, which is still a paid plan.
Why the December 2025 reports are wrong now
On 5 December 2025 Netflix announced an agreement to buy the Warner Bros. studio and streaming business. If that had happened, the HBO catalogue would eventually have followed, and a wave of articles said so.
Warner Bros. Discovery terminated that agreement on 27 February 2026. Paramount Skydance paid Netflix the 2.8 billion dollar termination fee the same day, as the Netflix agreement required, and Netflix confirmed receipt in a filing with the SEC. Paramount Skydance has agreed to buy Warner Bros. Discovery instead. That deal has not closed. Twelve state attorneys general sued to block it, a settlement was announced on 21 September 2026, and the judge had not yet approved it as of 26 September 2026.
So the route by which The Sopranos was supposed to reach Netflix no longer exists. The articles predicting it were not inventing anything, they simply have a date on them that most readers never check.
This is the single most useful thing to know about this question, and it applies to every HBO title, not just this one.
Where it actually streams
HBO Max, in most markets
HBO Max carries the complete run in the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Australia, all checked on 26 September 2026. The library differs by territory, so check your own market rather than assuming HBO Max carries it everywhere it operates. In the UK, HBO Max launched on 26 March 2026, and Sky and NOW Entertainment customers reach the series through the HBO Max Basic with Ads plan bundled into their subscription rather than through NOW's own library. In Australia it is on HBO Max and on Foxtel Now. It left BINGE when HBO Max launched there on 31 March 2025.
Crave, in Canada
Canada is the exception that catches people out. Bell Media holds the HBO rights there through an output deal, so the series is on Crave rather than on HBO Max. A guide that says "HBO Max" without qualifying it is wrong for Canadian readers.
JioHotstar, in India
In India the series runs through JioHotstar, the service formed when Disney+ Hotstar merged with JioCinema in February 2025.
Buying it
In most markets the series is sold per season through the usual digital stores. For six seasons that costs considerably more than a month of a subscription, so buying makes sense for one season rather than for the whole run.
Why it has never been on Netflix in the US
HBO has never sold American streaming rights for this series to Netflix. It licensed them to Amazon Prime Video in 2014, the first time HBO had put its library on another subscription service. HBO let that deal lapse in 2018 and kept the series on its own services, which HBO Max replaced in May 2020.
That is the ordinary pattern for a flagship title from a company that owns a platform. It is the same reason Game of Thrones has never been on Netflix in the United States either.
Check your own country
Open Netflix on your ordinary connection, signed in, and search. If a title page loads without a play button, the series is not playable where you are.
One honest limit on this page. Six markets were checked directly. There are roughly 190 Netflix markets, and no listing or licence for this series was found in any of them, but "nowhere in the world" is a stronger claim than the evidence supports. Read it as "in none of the markets checked".
