Is The Flash on Netflix?
Three titles share this name and they give opposite answers. The CW series that ran from 2014 to 2023 is on Netflix in the United States. The 2023 Warner Bros. film is not. In the United Kingdom it is reversed. A 1990 CBS series carries the name as well.
Territory decides the rest. On 26 and 27 September 2026 we checked 24 markets. All nine seasons of the series are on Netflix in 15: the US, Canada, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Poland, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, South Africa and Japan. Not on Netflix in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Spain, Italy, Australia, New Zealand or India. Netflix runs in more than 190 markets, so 24 is a sample, not a map.
Series: on Netflix in 15 of the 24 markets checked, absent in the other nine, where it is mostly Prime Video.
The 2023 film is the mirror image: HBO Max in the US, Netflix in the UK, Ireland, France, Spain and
Switzerland.
Germany, Austria and Switzerland give three different answers. Do not treat them as one.
Netflix did not buy Warner Bros. WBD agreed to Paramount Skydance on 27 February 2026, and that deal has not closed.
The November 2028 removal date being quoted is one publisher's schedule, not a Netflix confirmation.
Three Flashes, and how listings mix them up
The series ran nine seasons and 184 episodes on The CW, 7 October 2014 to 24 May 2023. The film is Warner Bros. Pictures, streaming premiere 25 August 2023. On JustWatch France, /fr/serie/the-flash serves the 1990 show while the 2014 series sits at /fr/serie/flash. Land on the first and you conclude the title is rent or buy only in France. It is on Netflix there.
The film is on HBO Max in nine of the markets we checked, including the US, and on Netflix in the UK, Ireland, France, Spain and Switzerland. Italy, Canada, Belgium and South Africa have it on no subscription at all. There is no sequel.
Where the series streams instead
Germany, Austria and Switzerland are three answers, not one. Germany and Austria have it on Prime Video, not Netflix. Switzerland has both side by side.
UK: Prime Video, ITVX Premium, Now TV, Sky Go, and free with advertisements on ITVX. Prime Video and ITVX carry eight seasons. We did not record how many seasons Now TV and Sky Go carry, so check those two for season nine before you buy it. Ireland: Prime Video, Now TV, Sky Go. Spain, Italy and New Zealand: Prime Video. Australia: Prime Video, Stan, HBO Max, and free with advertisements on 9Now. India: Prime Video and JioHotstar, nine seasons on both, and the service is JioHotstar now, not Disney+ Hotstar. Japan: Netflix, U-NEXT, and HBO Max through U-NEXT. South Africa: Netflix and nothing else.
Who owns it, and the error in most coverage
Warner Bros. Discovery owns The Flash today. On 5 December 2025 Netflix came out ahead in the auction for WBD's Streaming and Studios division at an enterprise value of 82.7 billion dollars. That division holds the Warner Bros. studio, HBO and HBO Max, and the bid produced a wave of "Netflix is buying DC" coverage. Netflix did not get it. On 27 February 2026 WBD agreed instead to Paramount Skydance, 110.9 billion dollars for the whole company.
That deal is announced, not completed. Shareholders approved on 23 April 2026 and the Department of Justice antitrust division on 12 June 2026. On 21 September 2026 Paramount Skydance settled out of court with the state of California and the Writers Guild of America, and the other 11 states that sued in July are not documented as part of that settlement. On 24 September a court allowed an opposing group to file amicus briefs. Paramount Skydance said on 21 September that it expected to complete the deal in about two weeks. As of 27 September 2026 it has not closed. Articles reasoning that Netflix will own the title are wrong twice: wrong buyer, and not final.
Removal dates: announced, not in effect
Arrow left Netflix US on 18 December 2025 for Pluto TV, which belongs to Paramount. Black Lightning left Netflix US on 1 September 2026, the only removal Netflix itself confirmed.
For The Flash, What's on Netflix published a schedule on 7 August 2026 putting the series at November 2028 on Netflix US. That is one publisher's projection, and the same outlet said 30 December 2027 or 1 June 2028 back in June 2023. Those 2023 projections also had Canada and France losing the series around August 2026. Both still have all nine seasons.
Buying versus subscribing: do the sum
US: all nine seasons cost 224.91 dollars at Fandango At Home. Against the 19.99 dollars a month Netflix price JustWatch lists that is over 11 months, or about 25 months of the 8.99 dollars advertisement tier. Buying is pointless there, because Netflix US already carries it.
UK: the Apple TV Store lists the series at 124.91 pounds, and we did not record how many of the nine seasons that price covers. Against 11.98 pounds a month for Prime Video that is about 10 months, and eight of the nine seasons are free with advertisements on ITVX anyway. Germany: one season at maxdome is 17.99 euros, roughly 1.5 months of Prime Video, so a single season is competitive while the full Amazon set at 280.97 euros is not.

Every availability figure above comes from one source, JustWatch, pulled live on 26 and 27 September 2026. There is no independent second source. Netflix's own country catalogues could not be checked: this machine's address geolocates to Finland, so every request redirected to the Finnish storefront. "Not on Netflix in Germany" rests on JustWatch, not on Netflix. Prices are as JustWatch displays them, not read off each provider's own pricing page. Asia outside India and Japan, the Middle East, Africa outside South Africa, and eastern Europe outside Poland were not checked. Check your own account before planning an evening around this.
What a VPN does and does not do here
A VPN changes the network location your connection appears to come from. That is all it changes. It does not move your billing region, and it does not add a title to a catalogue that does not license it. If the series is not in your region's catalogue, connecting through another country is not a guaranteed fix, and using one this way can conflict with the service's terms.
