Is Riverdale on Netflix?
You have probably read that Riverdale leaves Netflix in 2027, or in 2028. That is not an announcement. Both dates are third-party estimates, and they contradict each other. As of 27 September 2026 no removal date has been announced.
All seven seasons sit on Netflix in nine of the ten markets checked: the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Australia, India, Brazil and Mexico.
Canada is the exception. Netflix Canada does not carry it at all, and the only Canadian route found was buying through the Apple TV Store. Most articles miss that, because they treat Netflix as one market.

The removal dates in circulation are estimates
They come from a licensing term: the publisher says CW shows had to stay exclusive to Netflix in the United States for five years after Netflix received the final season. For other regions it says only that the timing varies, and its international date for Riverdale falls four years after the season arrived there. One publisher applied it and listed 27 February 2028 on one page, 28 November 2028 on another, plus roughly 30 March 2027 internationally. Dates nine months apart are not a schedule.
The pattern is real. Its table puts Arrow and Supernatural at 18 December 2025 and Black Lightning at 1 September 2026, dates that have now passed, though no confirmation was found that either removal was carried out. It puts Supergirl at 15 December 2026, Legends of Tomorrow at 2 September 2027 and The Flash at 28 November 2028, which is the same date it gives Riverdale, and its own note calls the whole table speculation subject to contract changes.
Netflix in the United States
Netflix lists all seven seasons in the United States, on the standard plans and the plan with advertising. Season 7 arrived on 31 August 2023, eight days after the finale.
HBO Max does not carry it there, despite Warner Bros. Television being the distributor. Three stores sell all seven seasons: Amazon Video, the Apple TV Store and Fandango at Home. No rental was offered.
Do the sum before buying. Seven seasons bought outright usually costs several times one month of a subscription. One season may not. Check the price of the season you actually want.
Netflix outside the United States
Netflix bought the exclusive international broadcast rights, so outside the United States the series ran as a Netflix Original and in many countries nothing else carries it. All seven seasons were found in every checked market except Canada. In Brazil, Mexico and India, Netflix was the only offer at all: no buying, no renting.
Buying abroad is patchy. In France, Canal VOD and the Apple TV Store both list four seasons. In Germany the Apple TV Store, Amazon Video and MagentaTV list all seven, and only freenet meinVOD stops at four. The label misleads, too: Netflix bought international rights, it does not own the show, and that is why the title can eventually leave.
Canada is the exception
No source was found explaining why Canada sits outside the arrangement that put the series on Netflix elsewhere. The only Canadian offer found was seven seasons to buy through the Apple TV Store. Who holds Canadian streaming rights today is not established.
Who owns it, and where it might go next
Riverdale was produced by Berlanti Productions, Archie Comics, CBS Studios and Warner Bros. Television Studios, and distributed by Warner Bros. Television. Warner Bros. Discovery runs HBO Max. CBS Studios belongs to Paramount, which runs Paramount+. Neither co-owner can pull the title onto its own service alone while they are separately owned, and that is the constraint the pending Paramount Skydance purchase of Warner Bros. Discovery would remove, because one company would then control both CBS Studios and Warner Bros. Television. HBO Max carries the series in none of the ten markets checked.
What is not established here
Ten markets were checked. Netflix operates in more than 190 countries, so eastern Europe, Japan, Korea, the Middle East and Africa are untested. Canada already breaks the pattern, so other unchecked markets may too.
No primary source was found for when the licence ends, and where the series goes next is not confirmed. Paramount Skydance agreed in February 2026 to buy Warner Bros. Discovery, the United States Department of Justice approved the deal on 12 June 2026, and a settlement with state attorneys general on 21 September 2026 cleared the way to close it. The deal had not completed as of 27 September 2026, and an ownership change of that size decides whether and where a title like this moves.
