Is Outlander on Netflix?
There is no single answer, and any page that gives you one is guessing. This title splits by country and by season. On 27 September 2026, Netflix US listed seven of the eight seasons, Netflix France all eight, Netflix UK none.
Season 8 is where almost every page goes wrong. It ran on Starz in the US from 6 March to 15 May 2026 and ended the series. In most countries it has not reached Netflix.
Season counts were measured in seven markets: the US, the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Canada and Australia. Eight more were checked for presence only. Fifteen against the 190 plus Netflix operates in, so open your own app first.
Netflix US: seasons 1 to 6 plus episodes 1 to 8 of season 7. Not the finale.
Netflix France: all 8, the only market where we verified season 8 ourselves.
Netflix UK: nothing. MGM+ through Prime Video, £5.99 a month, has all 8.
Season 8 elsewhere: Starz in the US, Ziggo in the Netherlands, Binge in Australia, purchase only in Germany and Canada.
Buying the series in the US costs about 17 months of Starz, which has all eight.
Four claims to distrust
"Outlander is (not) on Netflix." With no country attached that is wrong in both directions on the same day. German-speaking Europe is not one block: Germany has seven seasons, while Switzerland sits on a published list of markets that got season 8, which we could not confirm.
"It is not on Netflix in America." Starz has all eight there. Netflix US also has six and a half. The honest answer is "yes, apart from the last season and a half".
"Season 8 is on Netflix now." Written with no territory attached. True for France, false for the US, the UK, the Netherlands and Germany.
"Season 7 part 2 arrives on Netflix US on 17 January 2027." That date, and "around May 2028" for season 8, are trade-press arithmetic off a two-year pattern. Nobody announced either.
Netflix in the United States
Seven seasons means seasons 1 to 6 complete plus episodes 1 to 8 of season 7, added on 11 August 2025. Episodes 9 to 16 are absent, and so is season 8. Netflix US costs $19.99 a month, or $8.99 with adverts. Starz, at $11.99, has all eight.
Outside the US it is a map, not a yes or no
France has 8 seasons on Netflix. The Netherlands, Germany, Canada and Australia have 7, and Australia also has 7 on Stan. The UK has none. Netflix Germany is €15.99, or €6.99 with adverts. Netflix Canada is CA$18.99.
Presence only, depth unknown: Switzerland, Austria, Poland, Belgium, Japan, Sweden and India all show Netflix carrying it. Japan also lists Hulu Japan, which is Nippon TV and unrelated to Hulu in the US or to Hulu on Disney+, the name Star has carried since 8 October 2025. Ireland has no subscription listing, only Sky Store at €120.92.
Why it differs by country
Sony owns this one, which is unusual for premium drama. Sony Pictures Television has sold it internationally since 2014, initially across 87 territories, and runs no competing streamer. The brake is the licensee. Starz buys an exclusive first US window, in practice two years past a finale, and elsewhere a local buyer takes that window with Netflix following later. Where Netflix is itself the licensee, the season arrives there in step with Starz. That is France, which started on 7 March 2026, a day after the US premiere.
Where season 8 actually is
Starz in the US, $11.99. MGM+ through Prime Video in the UK, £5.99, after an April 2024 Amazon and Lionsgate deal. Ziggo Movies & Series in the Netherlands, weekly on Mondays since 9 March 2026. Netflix in France. In Germany no subscription has it: episodes went on sale from 10 March 2026 at €2.99 each, or €27.99 for a season pass, per German coverage that month. Canada is purchase only, from CA$24.99 a season. In Australia season 8 ran weekly on Binge from 7 March 2026, and Binge carries that season only, none of the seven before it.
The wider list rests on one source. Whats-on-Netflix named thirteen countries on 26 February 2026 and Collider repeated it on 2 March. France was flagged as confirmed at the time and we verified it ourselves. For the other twelve markets there is nothing from Netflix, Sony or Starz.
Buying versus subscribing, with the sums
In the US the full series is $199.92 in HD at Apple TV, $209.92 at Amazon Video, $139.95 in SD at Google Play. Starz is $11.99 with all eight seasons, so $199.92 is nearly 17 months. Watch it in two months and cancel and you spend about $24. Even the cheapest single season, $14.99, costs more than one month of Starz, which includes everything. In the UK, £92.92 at Amazon Video is over 15 months of MGM+.
Germany is the exception where buying is rational, because no German subscription carries season 8. France is the opposite: Canal VOD asks €205.99 for a series Netflix France already includes.
What we could not check
JustWatch started returning HTTP 429 partway through, so season depth exists for seven countries only. We cannot confirm season 8 on Netflix in Switzerland, Belgium, Poland or Japan, although all four appear on the published list. We do not know whether the Dutch listing holds season 7 whole or half. Canada does not reconcile: no Starz through Crave in the listing, although trade coverage says Starz titles run there. Prices here are listing figures, not providers' own pages, and the German ones are March 2026 press. Brazil, Mexico, Spain, Italy, South Korea and nine other named markets were not touched. The prequel Blood of My Blood, whose second season started on Starz on 18 September 2026, is not on Netflix in the US or the Netherlands, and we checked nowhere else.
