Is Naruto on Netflix?
Yes and no, and the split runs inside one country. In the United States, Netflix has the original Naruto (2002) and not Naruto Shippuden (2007). From an American IP on 27 September 2026, netflix.com/title/70205012 returned HTTP 200 for Naruto. The Shippuden id, 80000603, returned 404, with control titles at 200. JustWatch US showed no Netflix offer on any of Shippuden's 24 season blocks. Most guides say the opposite.
Elsewhere it varies. Of the 16 markets we checked, Netflix had the original in 12 and Shippuden in 10. In Australia, Finland, Italy and the Netherlands it had neither. One service had both in all 16: Crunchyroll.
Netflix US: original Naruto yes, Naruto Shippuden no.
Netflix US does carry Shippuden films. That is why people believe the series is there.

Buying Shippuden season by season in the US costs $899.82 to $1,016.97, but Viz sells a complete digital bundle of all 500 episodes, last documented at $149.99, which is about fifteen months of Crunchyroll Fan at $9.99.
The mistake almost every guide makes
Treating Naruto and Naruto Shippuden as one title with one worldwide answer. They are two licences, and they land differently inside the same country.
Underneath that sits the trap. Netflix US carries five Naruto films, three with Shippuden in the title, on our own check from an American IP on 27 September 2026: Naruto Shippuden the Movie (2007), Bonds (2008) and Blood Prison (2011), plus Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow (2004) and Guardians of the Crescent Moon Kingdom (2006). Search Netflix US for Shippuden, get hits with Shippuden in the title, conclude the series is there. Films are licensed separately and do not follow the series. The Last: Naruto the Movie (2014) is not on Netflix US at all: there it is free with ads on The Roku Channel, or to buy from $7.99.
Third comes stale news. Anime News Network reported on 23 September 2022 that seasons 1 to 9 would leave Netflix on 31 October 2022. They left, and later came back. The series is there today. We found no removal scheduled for October 2026, which is not a guarantee.
The 16 markets we checked
Original Naruto on Netflix: United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, France, Japan, India, Brazil, Mexico. Not on Netflix: Australia, Finland, Italy, Netherlands.

The two big English-speaking markets hold the original and not the sequel. Continental Europe, Canada and Latin America hold both, though not to the same depth: JustWatch mapped Netflix Shippuden to blocks 1 to 21 in Germany, 1 to 16 in Canada and 1 to 13 in Spain. Those are directional, not episode counts.
Where both series actually live
Crunchyroll is the constant, with both series on subscription in all 16 markets, including the four where Netflix has nothing.
The second US route is Hulu. In the UK, BBC iPlayer has the original in English dub, the first 134 of 220 episodes, reported by Anime News Network on 22 February 2026, and has been adding Shippuden in English dub through 2026, past 289 episodes by 15 May 2026 with more still being added, so treat any episode count there as a moving figure. Germany is the widest market we saw: Crunchyroll, Netflix, Prime Video, RTL+, and free with ads on Joyn and Toggo, plus Disney+, which added the original series from 12 June 2026 starting with the first 52 of 220 episodes and no Shippuden (Netzwelt, 6 June 2026). Japan runs on its own rails, including U-NEXT, FOD and Hulu Japan, which is a separate service from Disney's Hulu. In the Netherlands, Australia and Finland it is Crunchyroll alone, with Prime Video as well in Italy.
Why nobody keeps this exclusive
Masashi Kishimoto's manga is published by Shueisha, the anime comes from Studio Pierrot and TV Tokyo, and Viz Media holds the North American licence. None of them runs a streaming service that needs protecting, so the licences go wide and non-exclusive. The one party acting like an owner is a licensee: Crunchyroll, owned by Sony, which Whats-on-Netflix says holds the US Shippuden licence. Any answer about this title is short-lived.

US prices, both raised this year: Crunchyroll Fan $9.99, Mega Fan $13.99, Ultimate Fan $17.99, effective 2 February 2026 (Telecompaper, 3 February 2026). Netflix Standard with Ads $8.99, Standard $19.99, Premium $26.99, for new sign-ups from 26 March 2026, with existing members moved over on later billing cycles (CNBC, 26 March 2026).
Buying Shippuden season by season loses badly against that, but season by season is not the only way to buy it. Viz sells a complete digital bundle of all 500 episodes on Prime Video, Apple TV and Fandango at Home, priced at $99.99 through 10 November 2025 and $149.99 from 11 November 2025, on Viz's own blog of 7 November 2025. We could not load a live US price on 27 September 2026, so $149.99 is the last figure we can document. At that price the bundle is about fifteen months of Crunchyroll Fan, which makes it the one Shippuden purchase that can beat subscribing. Fandango at Home lists $899.82 for 18 seasons, about 90 months of Crunchyroll Fan. The Apple TV Store lists $1,016.97 for 21 seasons, over 100 months. One season at $49.99 is still five months of subscription.
The original flips at season level, which most guides miss. Season 1 on Amazon Video is $7.99, under one month of Crunchyroll and under one month of Netflix with ads. The whole set does not flip at Amazon block prices, where $97.94 for all six blocks is about ten months, but a complete series bundle on Fandango at Home and Apple TV has sold for as little as $29.99, which is about three months, so check the bundle before buying blocks.
What we could not verify
The episode count of the original on Netflix US. JustWatch showed Netflix on blocks 1 to 5 of 6, which would be all 220 episodes. Whats-on-Netflix says seasons 1 to 6 are streaming, and its 156-episode figure describes the May 2016 arrival rather than current coverage, on a page last updated 18 October 2024. Netflix's own page returns numberOfSeasons 0 without a signed-in session, so we print no episode figure.
Coverage. We checked 16 markets, not 190. We could query Netflix directly from two vantage points only, the US and Finland, because Netflix decides the catalogue on IP rather than on the country prefix in the URL. At both, JustWatch matched our measurement exactly. The other 14 markets rest on aggregator data, Austria and Switzerland on a web mirror.
Depth. Shippuden on Hulu US shows one season on JustWatch, against weak claims of the full 500-episode dub. JustWatch's Crunchyroll data has gaps at Shippuden blocks 14 to 16 and 18 to 24, so we used none of it for coverage claims. No licence end date for this title is public.
Method, if you check this yourself: our first pass returned no Netflix for Spain, France, Canada, Mexico, the Netherlands and Italy, but those were 3,199-byte error pages and four flipped to yes on a refetch. A failed request looks identical to an unavailable title.
Coming up. A Naruto panel runs at New York Comic Con on 10 October 2026, where a new animated film is expected. Viz has said the panel will include an announcement about a new animated film, but as of 27 September 2026 no title and no release date have been published, so treat any specific release date you see elsewhere as unsourced. That claim is wrong.
What a VPN does and does not do here
A VPN changes the network location your connection appears to come from. That is all it changes. It does not change the billing region on your account, and it does not add a title to a plan that lacks it. In the US it will not get you Shippuden: Netflix does not hold the series there, so you need Crunchyroll or Hulu. The real cases are the traveller whose account sits in a market that has it, and the Dutch, Italian, Australian or Finnish reader for whom Netflix has neither series. Using one can conflict with the service's terms, and what you see may not follow the exit country, so check your own account rather than any country list, this one included. The short answer
The original Naruto is on Netflix in the US and in 11 of the other 15 markets we checked. Crunchyroll had both everywhere we looked. Because no rights holder here runs a streaming service of its own, this changes per country and per month, so verify it in your own account.
