Is Dragon Ball Z on Netflix?
Both answers are true, and the difference is geographical. On 27 September 2026 the series Dragon Ball Z, all 291 episodes made between 1989 and 1996, is absent from Netflix in 38 of the 49 markets checked, including the US, Canada, Brazil, the UK, Germany and Australia. Crunchyroll is the subscription route in many of them, but not in all.
Netflix does have it in part of Asia. A check of 49 markets on that date returned Netflix in 11: Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, India and Pakistan. It was absent in the other 38. Netflix runs in more than 190 countries, so around 140 were never checked.

Netflix is not one catalogue
Most pages pick one answer and publish it. That is the error everything else rests on. Netflix licenses country by country, so "it is on Netflix" and "it is not" are both true today, in different places. Either one given as the answer is wrong for half the readers. Search the title in your own account before trusting any list, this one included.
Season counts are the second trap: ten on Netflix Japan, six in the other Asian markets, nine in the US purchase stores, one on Crunchyroll. There is no official split, and all of them describe the same 291 episodes.
Where to watch it when Netflix does not have it
Crunchyroll came back as a route in 21 of the 49 checked markets, including the US, Canada, Brazil, the UK, France, Australia and India. In the US it also sits inside Amazon as a channel, and the seasons are for sale at Amazon Video and Fandango At Home.
Routes that get missed:
Japan has five: Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu Japan, U-NEXT and the Toei Animation Channel inside Amazon. Hulu Japan has been a separate company under Nippon Television since 27 February 2014.
France has Animation Digital Network, partly free with advertising. Italy has Amazon Prime Video, Spain only Animebox inside Amazon, Brazil adds Oldflix.
Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal, Poland, Czechia, Hungary, Romania, Austria, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland had no streaming route at all on the measurement date. Buying, renting or a disc is what is left there.
Buying all 291 episodes normally costs several times one month of a subscription, so the subscription is the cheaper start for the full series. For one season it can go either way, so check the price in your own store.
Three lookalikes that get counted as Dragon Ball Z
Dragon Ball Daima, 20 episodes, ended 28 February 2025. Netflix took it worldwide on 18 October 2024, which is why a Dragon Ball series sits on Netflix US. The film Battle of Gods is there too. Resurrection F and Super: Super Hero are not.
Dragon Ball Z Kai, the 2009 recut, is a separate licence. In Spain, Kai is on Netflix while Z is not, so counting them together describes Spain wrongly. In the US, Kai runs on Hulu, Adult Swim and YouTube TV.
Why the split exists
Toei Animation makes the anime and runs no standalone streaming service of its own, only branded channels inside other platforms, so it licenses widely and non-exclusively. Crunchyroll in the west and Netflix in Asia can therefore hold the same title at once.
The block sits a layer lower. The English language rights have been with Funimation since 1996. Funimation was absorbed into Crunchyroll LLC, owned by Sony Pictures Entertainment, and its service closed on 2 April 2024. While the English dub sits with a direct Netflix competitor, a move to Netflix in the US, Canada, the UK or Australia is unlikely.
What this page does not establish
Forty-nine markets were checked for the series, 16 for Dragon Ball, Super, Kai and GT, three for Daima and the films. Every "not available" here applies inside those lists and nowhere else. Whether those six Asian seasons hold all 291 episodes is unverified, and India received the series in stages from about 27 June 2025, so partial delivery is plausible there. The 15 December 2025 date circulating for Battle of Gods comes from a catalogue tracker, not from Netflix.
One announcement is not a release. Dragon Ball Super: Beerus was announced in January 2026, its premiere date was confirmed in early September 2026, and it starts in Japan on 11 October 2026. No streaming service outside Japan has been named, so do not assume Netflix or Crunchyroll. The only confirmed date outside Japan is an advance screening at New York Comic Con on 8 October 2026. Nothing suggests Dragon Ball Z is leaving a service soon either, but departures are rarely announced.
