Is Doctor Who on Netflix?
No. On 27 September 2026 Doctor Who was in no Netflix catalogue in the ten markets checked: the US, the UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, the Netherlands, Germany, India, Brazil and Japan. A VPN moves you to another country, and if no Netflix library holds the series, no server location changes that.
The trap in this question is that Doctor Who is not one rights package but three: classic 1963 to 1989, the revival 2005 to 2022, and the new numbering 2023 to 2025. Three packages, not one series
Classic, 1963 to 1989: 26 seasons.
Revival, 2005 to 2022: 13 seasons plus specials. AMC+ has held the US streaming rights to those 13 seasons since 11 June 2026.
New numbering, 2023 to 2025: the 60th anniversary specials plus series 1 and 2 with Ncuti Gatwa, the Disney+ block outside the UK and Ireland.
The spin-off The War Between the Land and the Sea ran on BBC One and iPlayer in December 2025. It was expected to reach Disney+ internationally during 2026, and on 27 September 2026 it had still not appeared outside the UK.

Netherlands, Brazil and Japan: Gatwa seasons on Disney+ and nothing else.
Germany: Gatwa seasons on Disney+, classic via the BBC Player Amazon Channel, the revival only to buy.
India: Gatwa seasons on JioHotstar, which came out of Disney+ Hotstar in February 2025.
Buying a full season usually costs several times one month of the service that carries it. For one season it may not, so check that season's price yourself.
Some country pages also show a panel of that country's popular services beside the programme. The Irish page lists Netflix there, while its availability line reads Sky Go and Sky Store. Who holds the rights, and why that settles it
The rights sit with the BBC. BBC Studios handles international distribution and has owned BritBox International outright since February 2024, when it bought ITV's 50 per cent stake. The BBC runs iPlayer in the UK. A rights holder with two streaming services of its own has little reason to license its best-known catalogue to Netflix, which is why the series keeps landing anywhere but there.
The Disney+ deal was co-financing for new seasons outside the UK and Ireland, not a catalogue sale. It ended on 28 October 2025 after two seasons, and the finished seasons stayed up. In June 2026 the BBC cancelled the planned 2026 Christmas special and Russell T Davies announced his departure. The BBC said it would put the series out to competitive tender later in 2026. Bad Wolf remains the production company, and who runs the show next depends on that tender. Reporting puts a return no earlier than 2028.

No end date has been published for the Gatwa seasons on Disney+, so that part of the answer can expire without notice.
AMC+ is sold as a paid add-on inside Philo and inside Spectrum, so those listings are almost certainly the same service resold rather than a second rights deal.
The 1996 television film and the two 1960s Peter Cushing films were not measured. For Germany, Brazil, Japan and India only the main listing for the programme was checked, not every rental and purchase option. No checked market listed a dead service: India showed JioHotstar, not Disney+ Hotstar.
