Is Dexter on Netflix?
Right now the answer is yes and no at the same time, and which one you get depends on your country.
It is not on Netflix in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Canada, Mexico or Argentina. It is on Netflix in the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Czechia, Spain, Portugal and Sweden, where all eight seasons returned in June 2026.
No other question on this site has moved as often. The answer flipped three times in eighteen months.
19 June 2025: removed from Netflix United States after a one-year licence.
30 and 31 March 2026: removed from Netflix in thirty-two countries.
18 June 2026: quietly returned to Netflix in part of Europe, all eight seasons.
Paramount+ is the long-term home in most markets. In the Netherlands and much of Europe it is SkyShowtime,
and its two owners said in September 2026 that they are reviewing its future, closure included.
Only the original eight seasons ever appear on Netflix. The sequels never do.
Why it keeps moving
Dexter is a Showtime series, and Showtime has belonged to Paramount throughout, trading as Paramount Skydance since the merger completed in August 2025. Paramount owns Paramount+, a direct Netflix competitor.
That is the whole mechanism. A studio with its own service does not sell long exclusive windows to the largest rival. It sells short non-exclusive ones, and it prefers to sell them in countries where its own service does not operate.
Look at where the series came back in June 2026 and the pattern is obvious: the Netherlands, Poland, Czechia, Portugal, Sweden. Paramount+ does not run as a standalone service in most of those markets. SkyShowtime does, and Paramount Skydance owns half of it. Netflix is being used to reach the countries Paramount cannot reach directly.
One report worth ignoring
In late June 2025, shortly after the American removal, several sites reported that the licence had been renewed at the last minute and that Dexter would return to Netflix US "on or before 1 July 2025".
It did not. Fifteen months later it is still not on Netflix in the United States, and there has been no announcement of a return. Those articles are still in circulation.
This is the recurring shape of the problem with this question: a single report gets copied, the event it predicted never happens, and the copies stay online.
The four series with the same name
This is where most confusion comes from, because only one of them is ever the answer.
Dexter (2006 to 2013), eight seasons, 96 episodes. This is the one that appears on Netflix.
Dexter: New Blood (2021 to 2022), one season. In the US it is also free with advertising on The Roku Channel.
Dexter: Original Sin (2024 to 2025), the prequel. Renewed in April 2025 and then cancelled in August 2025.
Dexter: Resurrection (2025 onwards), with Michael C. Hall back in the role. Season two premieres on 30 October 2026 on Paramount+, and on 31 October 2026 on SkyShowtime in the
Netherlands and its other markets.
The sequels have never been on Netflix in any market. If you find one there, look again at what you have actually opened.
Where the whole franchise is
Paramount+ carries everything, the original plus all three sequels, in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Italy, Australia and Latin America. France is the exception: Canal+ has held the Showtime output deal there since 2022, so Dexter: Original Sin sits on Canal+ and myCANAL rather than Paramount+.
In the Netherlands and across the SkyShowtime markets, SkyShowtime is the home and also carries the whole franchise. Paramount+ is not available there as a standalone service. So a Dutch viewer currently has two routes to the original series, Netflix and SkyShowtime, and only one route to the sequels.
Check your own country, and be honest about this page
Open Netflix on your ordinary connection, signed in, and search. Open the title page and press play. Then check the season selector reaches eight.
One limit worth stating plainly. The June 2026 return was never announced by Netflix or by Paramount, and no trade publication covered it. Polish and Dutch outlets reported the return on 18 June 2026, with all eight seasons and 96 episodes. For Belgium, Czechia, Spain, Portugal and Sweden we found no published report at all, so those five rest on a catalogue check in each market and nothing else. Other countries may also have it back without that showing up anywhere findable. Your own account settles it; this page cannot.
What a VPN does and does not do here
A VPN changes the network location your connection appears to come from. It does not change your Netflix billing region, it does not add a title to your plan, and using one to reach another country's catalogue can conflict with Netflix's terms of use.

Why is it on Netflix in the Netherlands but not in the UK?
Because Paramount owns the series and prefers to license it where its own services do not reach. Paramount+ operates in the UK, so there is no reason to rent the title to a competitor there.
